Home Alone

As loyal followers of the JollyJobe.com know, I have been left alone to fend for myself in London for two weeks while Caroline is in Newport News getting pampered in advance of Steve and Margot’s wedding.  She had no idea that pampering would entail experiencing her first earthquake and some urban camping thanks to Hurricane Irene.

My long time friends Jonathan Wilson and Andrew Behringer visited me for a long weekend and we had a great time acting like the mature 32 year olds that we are.  Caroline has an informal policy that if you visit us in London, you have to post to her blog, which Susan cleverly named Blogging for a Bed.  Since my visitors woke up about 45 minutes before they had to leave for the airport this morning, I had to take responsibility for their post.  In the spirit of the chief blogger at JollyJobe.com, here is their trip through the pictures that we took.

1) I went to my first Premier League “Football” game (Chelsea FC vs Norwich City).  Unfortunately Andrew’s flight had to divert to Iceland on the way here for electrical problems so he didn’t arrive until after the game. Jonathan, another friend Brian, and I had a great time though and the stadium is only a 30 minute walk from our house (yes, we now consider a 30 minute walk a short walk).

2) On Sunday we went to Piccadilly and had lunch and walked around some stores where Jonathan decided to take this artsy picture of Andrew and me walking.

3) After some shopping and lunch we went to the Churchill War Room museum and walked around Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Parliament, the Thames, etc.  Since we are guys and would never ask someone to take a picture of the three of us together, I have to post 2 pictures in order to show all three of us.

4) To prove that we did in fact do more than just visiting the pubs, here is a picture of the London Eye as we walked down by the Thames.

5) Finally after a long day at the museums they were all tuckered out…I’m sure it was just the jet lag (Caroline, don’t worry, I woke them up and didn’t let them sleep there all night).

***Fortunately we all had iPads so we could just email each other instead of talking throughout the weekend.

We had a great time and I’m glad they could come see where we live in London.  I’m going on a water and salad diet for the next few days and am looking forward to Steve and Margot’s wedding this weekend.

Great post John! Amazing that you could do it with no exclamation points or happy faces…

Who knew the two of you were such expert bloggers before London?! Love the post, John! I know Caroline’s excited to see you in just a few days – safe travels and have so much fun at the wedding this weekend.
